Congratulations to the company on their successful performance on the New Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre in Russia!
On 14 and 15 October, the production of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera The Maid of Orleans, which had premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in the previous season, was showcased as part of the tenth anniversary edition of the festival of musical theatres «To See Music». The performance was a true highlight of the event and left an indelible impression on the audience.
‘It is a great honour for us to have been invited to participate in the festival “To See Music”. The fact that this year, which is devoted to Pyotr Tchaikovsky, we have brought one of his grandest and most beautiful operas, The Maid of Orleans, which is rarely staged or performed in the world, to Russia, his native land (it’s our privilege and big responsibility), unites us even more. This is truly an experiment for the Belarusian theatre, but I am confident that the Russian audience will appreciate it as well. It combines Tchaikovsky's magnificent music, a modern production, and opera lyrics that resonate with contemporary themes. Together, these elements create a remarkable artistic experience,’ Catherine Doulova, the General Director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, Grand Doctor of Philosophy (Musicology), Professor, stated in an interview with the media.
This year, the festival has brought together over 20 companies from Russia and other CIS countries, creating a true parade of musical arts in Moscow.
The concept of this festival was conceived through the efforts of the Association of Musical Theatres (AMT), a body that unites over 70 prominent musical theatres in Russia and other CIS countries, including the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. Georgiy Isaakyan, the artistic director of the Natalia Sats Moscow Children's Musical Theatre and director of The Maid of Orleans on the Belarusian stage, has served as president of the AMT since 2014.
On 14 and 15 October, the leading roles were performed by: laureate of international competitions Daria Gorozhanko; People’s Artists of Belarus Anastasia Moskvina, Stanislav Trifonov and Vladimir Gromov; Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Valentii; recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Dmitry Shabetya; laureates of international competitions Victor Mendelev, Kirill Panfilov, Svyatoslav Sakharov, Ruslan Maspanov and Marta Danusevich.
