Ivan Grigorev was born in Kostroma, Russia.
From 2021 to 2024 he was a soloist at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, where he studied under the People’s Artist of Russia Anatoly Loshak.
Ivan participated in projects, festivals, productions and concert performances of operas in Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Yakutsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Saratov, Belgorod, Kaluga and other Russian cities.
In 2022 Ivan Grigorev was invited in the “New Opera World” project, where he sang the Miller in Rusalka (The Mermaid) by Alexander Dargomyzhsky.
In 2023 he took part in the national festival of musical theatres “To See Music” (Moscow), where he performed the role of Sergeant Major Vaskov in The Dawns Here Are Quiet by Kirill Molchanov.
In 2024 he sang the role of Prince Gremin in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at the Teatro Manuel Ascencio Segura (Peru, Lima), the oldest theatre in Latin America.
From 2024 to 2026 Ivan Grigorev was a soloist of the Dmitri Shostakovich Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. With the company, in October 2025 he took part in the Bangkok's 27th International Festival of Dance and Music (Kingdom of Thailand) performing the roles of Ramfis in Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida and Angelotti in Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca. He also participated in the production of Jacques Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann, which won Russian national theatre festival award “The Golden Mask” (conductor Evgeny Khokhlov, director Ivan Skladchikov).
At the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre and Dmitri Shostakovich Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre his roles were: Khan Konchak (Alexander Borodin’s Prince Igor), Pimen (Modest Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov), Gremin (Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Northern Reindeer (Sergei Banevich’s The Story Of Kai And Gerda), Tsar Saltan (Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan), Angelotti (Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca), Ramfis (Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida), Sarastro (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Magic Flute), Theseus (Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night's Dream), Don Basilio (Gioachino Rossini’s The Barber of Seville), Bezdomny (Sergei Slonimsky’s The Master and Margarita), Surin (Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades), Vaskov (Kirill Molchanov’s The Dawns Here Are Quiet), King René (Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Iolanta), Sobakin, Malyuta (Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tsar’s Bride), The Old Gypsy (Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Aleko), the Miller (Alexander Dargomyzhsky’s Rusalka), Alexey, Gavryushka (Dmitry Shostakovich’s The Gamblers), Colline (Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème), Sparafucile (Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto), the Doctor (Dmitry Shostakovich's The Nose), Crespel (Jacques Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann).
He has collaborated with conductors such as Marco Boemi, Ivan Nikiforchin, Fabio Mastrangelo, Evgeny Khokhlov, Alexey Nyaga; and with directors Ivan Popovski and Andrei Tsvetkov-Tolbin.
Since 2026 he has been a soloist of the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
